Robinson – Dance Class
This robust class of mainly retired folks meets in the classroom behind the Upper Room. It is taught by Ted and Gerrye Jenkins, who alternate presenting the Cokesbury New International weekly lesson. This lively group enjoys discussion and gets together for Christmas parties and other social events. Robinson-Dance is one of the larger adult Sunday School classes.
The Seekers: Johnny Harrell Class
Johnny facilitates the weekly meeting in the parlor of the Taliaferro House. They are a Spirit-led Bible study class comprised of all ages who engage in in-depth discussion about the Bible. They usually choose a book of the Bible and spend whatever time it takes to study completely through the book. They take time for prayer for needs of class members and the community. They are very informal and would love to have new members.
This small group is led by Karen Williamson and meets in the dining room of the Taliaferro House to have a presentation and in-depth discussion of areas of interest determined by the group.
Gleaners (aka the Harry Hudson class)
Led alternately by Harry Hudson, Marty Phillips and Chris Huskins, this class meets under the Historic Sanctuary. It is a large group of young adults and middle-age folks who enjoy studies and lively discussion of the Cokesbury New International lesson.
ANEW: A Never Ending Walk
This large group selects a variety of Bible-centered books to study for 6-10 week periods. The teaching rotates weekly as numerous class members volunteer to teach a lesson. Studies have been on books of the Bible (recently Genesis) and other topics e.g. prayer, leadership characteristics of figures in the Bible and the nature of sin. Active discussion is always a part of this class. The ANEW class has several social events and is comprised of mostly retired folks. They meet on the second floor of the Bauman Annex.
GIFT: Growing In Faith Together
Lessons have been DVD based studies by well- known Christian teachers e.g. Max Lucado, David Jeremiah, and Margaret Feinberg. The presentation is followed by open discussion which relates current events to relevant Scriptures. The facilitators for the class are Bob Betzel and Tim Nipper. This group of young –middle age folks meets in the old choir room, under the historic Sanctuary beside the playground.
