I grew up in Mableton, Georgia, but have lived in Eatonton for the past 12 years. My husband, Jonathan, and I have a son named Everett who was born in January 2011. We also have a daughter named Josie who was born in August 2014. I earned my Associates degree from Young Harris College, and then earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. This is my eleventh-year teaching. I taught Kindergarten for 3 years and I spent 6 years teaching Second grade, all at Jasper County Primary School. I have been teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math at Putnam County Elementary School for the last two years.
My family and I attended Wesley Chapel Methodist Church from 2011 to 2014. We began attending Eatonton First United Methodist Church in 2014 when I was pregnant with Josie. We immediately felt accepted and included in the family here at FUMC. We have enjoyed getting to know the people of the church and we have become involved in many different groups and events. I feel that God has lead me to apply for the position, Director of Children’s Ministries, here at Eatonton First United Methodist Church. I believe that children can learn to be disciples. It is our Christ-given duty as a church to help fan into flame a faith that serves, leads, teaches, and grows. Personally, I pray that my own kids learn Bible-reading habits, Bible-study skills, and that they will have many strong examples of discipleship and prayer as they grow.
I am excited that God has placed the Children’s Ministries of our church on my heart. I am eager to get started and serve in this capacity. I hope to foster many connections between our children and their church and community. I want them to learn how to be disciples among their friends, pursue a relationship with God for themselves, and enhance their knowledge of the Bible. This journey will be a learning experience for me as well! I anticipate that these kids will have a big impact on my faith and help me to grow in my walk with the Lord. I am thankful to have a supportive church praying for me, the children, and our Children’s Ministries. I’m looking forward to the many partnerships we will form along this journey to discipleship!
