Mary Alice Chapman Dennard, born and raised in Macon, Georgia, fell in love with the piano at the age of 5 while banging on the church piano immediately after services each Sunday dreaming that one day it would be her place at the piano. She began playing fulltime at the age of 14 in a church where her uncle served as pastor and remained in that position until her marriage to Boyd Dennard. Since that time, she has served with Boyd in the capacity of pianist, organist, children’s choir leader as well as handbell player. She also has taught piano since the age of 17 at which time her piano teacher believed in her enough to send her a few students she did not have time to teach. She credits much of piano success to her mother who always encouraged her and drove her many miles to the places where she was needed to play. She is also most thankful to the Lord for sending Boyd into her life. The love they share for each other, their love for music and their deep desire to serve the Lord together has brought so much joy and happiness.
