Rev. Dr. Jessica E. Terrell is the Senior Pastor at Eatonton First United Methodist. A native of LaGrange, Georgia, Jessica grew up on the farm that has been in their family for many generations. She holds degrees from LaGrange College, the Divinity School at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and her doctorate from Emory University.
Prior to her ministry here in Eatonton, Jessica served as the Senior Pastor of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Senior Associate Pastor at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church as well as the Emory United Methodist campus Minister. Jessica has also served at Covington First United Methodist Church as their associate pastor and several churches throughout North Carolina during her seminary years. In the summer of 2011, Jessica participated in a pulpit exchange with the East Belfast Methodist Mission in Northern Ireland. During this exchange, she focused on ministries of reconciliation, conflict transformation, and the local church as a leading agent in community transformation.
Throughout her ministry, Jessica has served the North Georgia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in a variety of ways. She served on the Imagine No Malaria Campaign Steering Team and chaired the Atlanta-Emory District Committee of Ordained Ministry for several years. Presently, Jessica serves on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and the Augusta District Committee on Ordained Ministry. This summer she will also begin a term on the Conference Board of Trustees.
Jessica is passionate about the ministry of the local church. She most enjoys encouraging others to develop and utilize their gifts for ministry in the church and wider community. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, watching Duke Basketball, singing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
