Are you considering joining Eatonton First UMC and “officially” becoming part of our church family? We welcome you! Membership is as simple as prayerful consideration, conversations of intention, an easy form to fill out, coordinating calendars, and welcoming you and your family into the church. Feel free to contact our pastor. In the United Methodist Church we ask that you love God, your neighbor, and support the Eatonton First United Methodist Church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
As a United Methodist congregation, we celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism with infants, children, youth, and adults. Whenever there is a baptism, the congregation promises to surround that infant, child, youth, or adult with steadfast love and to help them become established in the Christian faith.
Parents of children, as well as youth and adults, will have the opportunity to meet with one of our ministers to discuss the meaning of this sacred act before each baptism.
Baptisms can be scheduled during either the 8:45 a.m. worship service in the Historic Sanctuary or the 11:00 a.m.worship service in The Great Hall. Once you schedule a baptism, please fill out this form and send it to the church office.
For more information about our United Methodist understanding of baptism or to talk with our pastor about scheduling a baptism, please contact Rev. Jessica Terrell at 706-485-5871.
Joining from Another United Methodist Church or Other Denomination
Our membership is composed of people from all types of faith backgrounds. Everyone is welcome here. If you are transferring your membership to Eatonton First UMC, when we receive the name and address of your previous church, our Church Office will request a transfer to our congregation. The United Methodist Church honors baptisms from all denominations, so new members will not be baptized again.
