Minister of Music
Boyd Dennard, born and raised in Gordon, Georgia, is a graduate of Mercer University with a BA degree in Music and Christianity. Being involved in church music since the age of 14, Boyd was able to serve his home church for many years as a bi-vocational organist and director. During this time he also was employed by the kaolin industry and owned his own business.
Feeling the call for full time Christian service, Boyd enrolled in Mercer University. After graduation, he has served churches in the middle Georgia area for the past 25 years. During this time, he was ordained and along with music, served as a minister of senior adults.
Always trying to improve his skills, Boyd has studied choral conducting at Georgia State University and master organ classes at Georgia College, and Emory University. While he enjoys conducting, playing the organ is his number one passion.
He is married to Mary Alice (accompanist for Eatonton FUMC and music teacher), and they have four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His hobbies include tinkering with old tractors and gardening.
