To bring to God, through Jesus Christ and the help of the Holy Spirit, the praises and concerns of our congregation, our community, our nation, and the world by the prayers of individuals and groups.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6
To bring to God...
Our loving God is waiting for us to communicate with Him about anything and everything.
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him." 1 John 5:14-15
through Jesus Christ...
Jesus is our interceding High Priest. He mixes His perfect prayers with our imperfect prayers and presents them to God.
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5
and the help of the Holy Spirit...
The Holy Spirit is the key to intercession and His major tool is God's Word. The Holy Spirit helps us by enlightening our spiritual understanding of the Scriptures, by giving us direction to our prayers, and by revealing God's will in the Scriptures. We do not need special training to be a channel of divine intercession. We need only to heed the Holy Spirit's call to pray.
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express." Romans 8:26
...the praises and concerns of our congregation, our community, our nation, and the world by the prayers of individuals and groups.
All of us as Christians are called to "stand in the gap," to intercede for others in prayer on their behalf.
"And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none." Ezekiel 22:30
Our concerns not only include those who need physical, emotional, or spiritual healing, but those in authority over us. In the prayer book of our prayer room, there are several sections which include our church staff, our local officials, our governor and state representatives, our President of the United States and top officials. Another section of importance is praying for the nations. There are currently 232 nations in our world. Over time the intercessors will pray for each one.
We welcome praises - answered prayers - to the prayer room. This honors our Heavenly Father and gives Him all the glory. This is encouraging to the church.
